Aura-Soma is a Non-Intrusive Self Selecting Colour System, “You are the colours you choose”. Aura-Soma began 20 years ago in England created by a blind lady called Vicky Wall. Vicky was the seventh child of a seventh child of a Hassidic Jew and through her early life her Rabbi father instructed her on the use of herbs and natural oils for healing. This education then progressed during the qualiwar when she started to work in an apothecary and finally she qualified as a Surgical Chiropodist. In her early years she was always able to see colours around people or in other words their auric field but in later life when she lost her sight through diabetes this ability became stronger and she always knew who was approaching her. It then happened that one night she heard a voice say “Child go divide the waters” and Vicky always said it was as if hands where working through her hands as she was mixing her herbs, essential oils and water and at that moment she began to create her colour combinations. Today we now have 103 colour combinations and these jewels are known as the Equilibrium bottles and they form the basis for Aura-Soma Colour System. At the time when Vicky started to create these living jewels she had no idea what these colours were to be used for but gradually she began to get feed back on what the bottles were achieving and now 20 years later Aura-Soma is world – wide and we are supplying to more than 40 countries a day. It is only when you see these Equilibrium bottles that you can begin to realise the effect they will have upon you. Each bottle contains a layer of water with the herbal extracts from individual herbs and plants and the upper fraction is oil containing essential oils from specific plants and in both layers they contain the energies and tinctures of crystals. It is only when this combination is shaken together that it forms the perfect emulsion for the skin to absorb and the subtle perfume and the energies of herbs, plants and crystals are then experienced as a powerful combination.
As I have stated this is a Non-Intrusive Self Selecting Colour System and it is the client that is choosing not the therapist, we are just the mouth piece for the colours that the client has chosen. It is when you stand in front of this array of bottles that your chakras and your energy field (aura) begin to talk with each other.
We need to understand that we are a colour being. Each chakra has its own colour and when we look at this energy body we can see that we form the rainbow and when our chakras are in or out of balance this will depend on what colours we are shining too brightly or not brightly enough. We can use the analogy of a pregnant woman and she is craving a certain food because it contains something that the body needs, well this is the same when we look at colour. We can be repulsed by certain colours or we can find that we have just one certain colour that is our favourite this is our body giving us information from a different source. Therefore when we look at the Equilibrium bottles and imagine that we are going onto a desert island and we can only take one of these bottles with us our body then begins to tell us what we are and what we need. It is at this point that the chakras and the subconscious mind decide what our body needs and once we have chosen 4 bottles this then gives the therapist a deeper understanding of the clients inner world on the emotional, mental, spiritual and physical levels. It is by understanding the language of colour that you can help your clients to see the gifts that they have and to help them achieve their full potential.
We can then apply the second bottle to the client via massage and anything that is left over the client can take home to use and carry on the treatment that they have received in the salon.
When we fully realise that everything in this world contains colour even the air we breathe we can then begin to see how certain colours affect our moods and our well being. It was Sir Isaac Newton who passed light through a prism and found that it contained the colours of the rainbow. If we look at a raindrop in a certain light we will see the colours of the rainbow reflected within each drop. Now if we take this a few steps further we can see that the world we live is also full of colour, the blue sky, the green of the grass and trees, our homes inside and outside contain colour and even the food we eat is colour and lastly we even talk in colour e.g. good as gold, green with envy, feeling blue etc, etc. Could you imagine a world without colour? Our lives would be extremely grey. This is why by understanding the world and language of colour you can help bring your clients into a perfect balance so that they are shining all their own colours equally rather than maybe being dominated by just one colour. An example of this is a very red person who could be extremely tired because they are always rushing about and stressed with their life and they never have enough time for the things that they would really like to do. It is at this point we can find out if our client is getting a proper diet, or are they taking the right supplements and what about rest and recuperation? With colour we can help the client to balance themselves by giving advice on diet and supplements, we can give the client a colour massage and chakra balance, and ending with advice on how to add certain colours to their bath water and wearing certain colours that will help to bring them back into a stress free life. I personally feel that this gives the client not only a holistic treatment but at the same time a whole treatment on all levels, mental, emotional, physical and even spiritual in a very gentle way. It is only as the client becomes aware of what they are doing in their daily life can they then begin to change and get the most out of their days this can also apply to the therapist as well.
If you wished to train as an Aura-Soma Practitioner then this will take time. We have three levels of training and each level consists of 6 days and a minimum of four months practise between each course.
The first Level of Aura-Soma Training covers the language of colour in depth. How to give a full hour consultation. How to use the other products that Aura-Soma supply to compliment the Equilibrium oils.
The second course looks at the language of colour again but from a different perspective. We then look to see how colour can be used with astrology, numerology, Ayuvedic, Aromatherapy, and much more.
The third course then looks every much at the Tree of Life and its association with the tarot. At the end of this course the student is given 10 ten questions to take home and answer at their convenience and to write a 5000 word research paper on colour. The student then needs to produce 60 hours of consultation records and 40 hours of either, anatomy and physiology or 40 hours of counselling. Once this has been submitted and marked they then become a fully qualified International Aura-Soma Practitioner.
In Australia and certain states in America Aura-Soma been registered with the Ministry and Education and Health and our courses have been accepted as part of a nurses extra course work to learn how to use colour in a complementary way.
We all know as therapists that we learn the physical anatomy and physiology of the body as we undergo our training but we are now coming to a point in evolution that we need to begin to understand the energy anatomy body just as well as the physical body because light, colour and sound will be the new treatments of the future. The time has come for therapists to take a deeper look into the human energy system and to become more acquainted with the energy bodies in relation to colour and how different colours can bring feelings to the surface to either be acknowledged or to be worked with. When giving a client a treatment whether it is a body massage, facial, Reiki, Aromatherapy or Reflexology we are automatically interacting with that client’s auric field or in other words the energy body around that client. If we, as the therapist, have had a difficult day this may be picked up by the client by you being distant or the client feeling that you are not really interested in them and as the therapist we are also pick up feelings from the client on a subtle level and all this is being told to us via our energy bodies. We have all read many articles aboutour chakras these wheels of energy up and down the spine of each person and yes they have a major influence upon how we feel about ourselves and how we inter-act with others and this can all be understood just by knowing what colour really means. Even if you do not wish to be a practitioner of Aura-Soma, just by learning about the colours in relation to the chakra system can be of immense value. Just from the chakra range of colour you invite the client to choose just four bottles and these can be placed around the treatment room or placed in a lamp and shone onto the client or just one of these bottles can be taken and used for massage can be of great value to your client. There are no end of ways to use colour, colour can be used with every therapy to help bring our clients back to perfect harmony. Even music reflects colour and each note has an equivalent colour attached to it and this is why certain pieces of music can either bring you to tears, happiness, sorrow or anger as the colour vibration interacts with your own energy body.
This system can be used not only in the salon but is also ideal for Spas and for the mobile or home therapist. The client can first have an in-depth consultation in relation to issues raised by the colours that they have chosen, this can then be followed by a relaxing massage using the specific colours that relate to that client and then a light lunch or snack can then be given in the complementary colours to complete the day.
